Why Freedom Ranch?

A breeding program built by a professional trainer.

Freedom Ranch Labradors is owned and operated by Krys Ruth — professional dog trainer, handler, and lifelong Labrador enthusiast. After decades of working with dogs and families through AmericanK9, she built a breeding program around what that work taught her about health, temperament, behavior, and what actually makes a great family dog.

Every breeding is planned. Every puppy is raised inside the family home. And every puppy goes home with professional training already arranged.

By eight weeks, a Freedom Ranch puppy has met children, guests, other dogs, new surfaces, household noise, and the sights and sounds of a working farm.

I wasn’t sure who to go to for basic puppy training. They’re just so many choices. American K 9 was fantastic. My family and I are so pleased at the training our dog received. Our trainer Carl is fantastic. He’s very thorough, consistent, patient and quickly got our dog. We did the two week board and train, and I wouldn’t recommend this program to anybody who wants the best foundation for the training of your dog. The buildings were so nice and clean. The Training facilities are just lovely sitting on acres of land with a very inviting feel. We are very satisfied and ready for our two week follow up. We have a large breed Presa Canario dog, which early training is an absolute must. Our pup was 5 months old for the training.

Our Lab is such a well-behaved companion, and people can’t believe he’s still a puppy. The trainers are responsive, the facilities are immaculate, and the care they provide is truly top-notch. We couldn’t be happier with the results and would 100% go back to American K-9 for future training. Highly recommend!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Nellie did a great job with our Cleo. Cleo is a very young and very small Shichon puppy. Nellie must have been very patient with her because she was all over the place before we brought her in. She now walks on a leash, will sit when told and has learned "place" when we want her to stay. She still has the puppy energy but she has the fundamentals for us to continue the train. Thank you Nellie and thank you for the daily updates and videos.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Super experience with American K9. My dog was a new dog when I got her home. She was initially a little skiddish upon her return, but quickly warmed up. She is happy and healthy and has discipline that makes her feel fulfilled.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We were referred to American K9 from a search in the local group pages as I just had gotten a new puppy and wanted to make sure they had the best possible training for success. If I could give them a million stars I would. They are so patient, kind, and knowledgeable, I absolutely love their staff because they truly make you feel welcomed and your dog cared for. I don't ever have to worry about the well-being or safety of my pup because they are in the best hands!! The owner Krys is kind and knowledgeable and truly runs the business outstanding. Brooke their administrative staff is always so helpful and understanding. I have had experience with Danny initially with single sessions, she is knowledgeable in her craft and truly cares about what she does- I highly recommend her; especially in working with my older French Bulldog who is stubborn- I love that she met her where she was! :) Ultimately after a few single sessions I decided it was best to place my younger puppy in the two week board and train in which she was then assigned to Sarah for training and she truly blew me away. She is so fun, helped ease my dogs anxiety, and was the perfect match for my puppy Tilly personality wise. She offers continuous support and is always just a message away! While I have not had direct training with the other staff trainers- I have engaged in passing and they are just as friendly and with the flow the rest of this business brings so I have no doubt that they are just as exceptional. I cannot recommend them enough, I will continue to use them life long and encourage others I know. They are worth every penny and I am truly grateful to have invested into such a great group. Thank you So much American K9!!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. From the very beginning, the entire process of getting our pup scheduled for training and understanding what to expect was incredibly easy. We felt confident right away that she would be well cared for.

Krys recommended Natalie based on the type of training we were looking for, and we truly could not be happier with that recommendation. Natalie treated our girl like she was her own. She kept us updated every step of the way with photos, videos, and even detailed videos explaining what she was working on, why she was doing it, and how we could continue reinforcing those skills at home. She also offered thoughtful advice and recommendations based on her experience, which we really appreciated.

When it was time for our girl to come home, Natalie personally brought her back to us and cared for her every step of the way. She arrived every bit as happy, confident, and well-trained as we had hoped. Natalie then spent the weekend working with us through hands-on training sessions, making sure we understood everything and felt comfortable and confident continuing her skills ourselves.

What we didn’t expect was just how attached we would become to Natalie throughout the process. I still haven’t convinced her to move to Connecticut quite yet, but I’m working on it! We would absolutely love to have her closer so she could continue to play a role in our dog’s life long-term.

Natalie has earned a very special place in our hearts, and we are incredibly grateful for the love, patience, care, and dedication she gave our girl. We truly hope our paths cross again very soon. We could not recommend her more highly.
